Went back to cat high today...was quite looking forward to it cause I didn't go back the other time during cny and was feeling kind of regretful...but anw I didn't regret going back this time...was there with tim,xingmao and weiji...its my first time back there after they have finished renovating...was really in awe over the new building...most parts of the building didn't really change but there's this refreshing feeling in it...totally brand new...of course there's the new hall and canteen which was completed long ago...a new cafe/student lounge...the staff room shifted to third level...office shifted and porch shifted although I think it's a temp shift cause it'll move back when the primary sch section complete its renovations...of course bigger classrooms and toilets...haha...the toilets were so nice...they finally increased the heights of the doors for the cubicles...haha...oh, and the red square shifted too although now its no longer red...
Oh...went to meet my teachers...only saw two of them, mrs toh and mdm sarifah...a few of them have left last yr and this yr...I think they really miss us...mrs toh was very touched to see us...she was commenting that seeing us reminded her the previous times under the old principal...she seemed to be happier back then...i guess the new principal really made a radical change over the 2 yrs...anw, she mentioned that under this new principal, the students are really geared to be moulded into pple of gentlemanly character with scholastic potential...and its no longer lk our batch which is overly protected and unexposed...so she really hoped that we can buck up and live up to the standards so as not to lose out to them...
Mdm sarifah also had words to say of the new principal...I was really amazed how every teacher has comments abt how the new principal is taking control over the sch...anw we had a great talk with her...I guess she was equally happy to see us cause we were her favourite class back then as she treated us lk our form class as she didn't have one...and she was one of the teachers whom we interact most with...heard a lot from her...lk how cat high has lots of 'products'...lk the cat high bear wearing the sch uni with tie....I'm surprised that cat high had a bear...I mean usu boys' sch wun have such stuff..anw, I've told mdm sarifah to help me get one...and there's lots more..lk penguin, pen with the sch name...not forgetting the new sch shoes and the berms that the students are wearing...and there's even a cat high bus..which is just a bus with sch mission and values on it..used to transport students on trips and at the same time to inform the rest of Singapore that there is such a sch which produce students who are gentlemen and with scholistic abilities...I've seen the bus..i guess the sch's just desperate for publicity...
I wonder whether it is a gd or bad to have left the sch before he came...well, I do believe what my teachers said as the new principal really tried very hard to push the standards very high and hoping to bring cat high to a new level..well, at least last yr's batch of students proved him right..the sch is ranked 11 in postion this yr although it wun be published because of the new sch ranking system...its getting closer to the previous principal's dream of making the sch the top ten schs in Singapore...I'm quite proud of that after the sch fell in ranking last yr...I dun know whether the principal is pushing too hard cause I haven't experienced it..but from the fact that every teacher has some thing to chip in..i guess its true..this yr the sec 4 batch had three prelims!I guess that's bad enough..
Its funny that when I first came to nj last, I sort of regretted going to cat high cause I thought there were more opportunities elsewhere..but somehow, in one way or another, I do really miss the times I had in cat high..the events that happened every yr, lk ndp parade and president's challenge and the activities that we had, lk calligraphy and weiqi which other schs did not have...and every now and then, I do think back at those stuff, esp when I see my juniors in bishan (which is lk quite often)..guess I do have some sentimental feelings towards my alma mater...the four years spent there had made a difference in me...and that is a completely different experience as compared to jc...it's a pity few pple know abt the home-coming event in june and few actually went because it was 2 days before the common tests...its a puzzle as to why the sch always org events when we have exams...last yr's prize-giving/founder's day was held during our promos..hope this yr we have a chance to go back during founder's day although I think the chances are slim
Since the time I left, the sch has indeed changed a lot...do hope the new batch will do the sch proud...I guess what the sch always say when we were still schooling there, that the cat high spirit will always be burning within us, is indeed quite true for me
